is a Professor of Geophysics and the Director of the Earth Sciences and Resources Institute at the University of South Carolina (USC). She and her husband Jim have two young daughters who are currently attending a public charter school. They have been part of the Suzuki Strings at USC program since they were 3 and, respectively, 4 years old. They both started ballet lessons at the USC Dance Conservatory and are now training with the Columbia Classical Ballet. At USC, Camelia served on several university-wide committees including the Faculty Advisory, Faculty Budget, Faculty Welfare, and Carolina Core Committees.
