Kathleen A. Warthen is a policy attorney working for the protection and advocacy for people with disabilities. She serves on task forces and committees including the Employment First Study Committee, the S.C. Bar’s Children’s Law Committee, and stakeholder groups for proposed bills affecting people with disabilities. She’s also experienced in personal injury law, securities law and laws governing utilities and nonprofit corporations.
She also served as a law clerk in U.S. District Court from 2006-2014 where she gained experience in civil rights and employment law; worked as an associate counsel dealing with civil litigation and white-collar criminal defense in a private law firm; and served as a criminal division law clerk in the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
She earned her law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law and her Bachelor’s degree in psychology and religious studies from the USC Honors College.
